What Are Roots & Branches?
Roots is our Middle School Ministry at FBC KPT. This consist of guys and girls from 6th to 8th grade. The name roots comes from Colossians 2:6-7 that states, “So then just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Our desire is for Middle School students all across Kingsport to be rooted in their faith. Here at First Baptist we do that through rooting them in Scripture, prayer, spiritual discipline, but don’t worry we have a lot of fun along the way as well. We believe that living out the Christian life should be a joyous and celebratory experience.
Branches is our High School Ministry at FBCKPT. This consist of guys and girls from 9th to 12th grade. The name branches comes from John 15:5 that states, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Our desire is for High School students all across Kingsport to begin branching out into the world with their faith. Here at First Baptist we do that through first rooting them in their faith through Middle School and High School, but giving them unique opportunities to serve in our community, country, and at times globally. Becoming a mature follower of Christ means branching out into the world and representing Christ in all areas of one’s life (sports, academics, band, clubs, work, relationships, etc.). We, also, regularly want new people to experience our ministry, so branching out and inviting a friend is always a priority.
