SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY
Sunday School Classes (women’s, men’s and co-ed) meet Sunday mornings at 9:45 am. Each class is a caring group of members who provide Bible study, ministry, fellowship and intercessory prayer and all classes are open for new members to come within their care. Reflections Senior Adult Choir offers senior adults the opportunity to share music and fellowship at assisted living facilities and nursing homes throughout our area.

HANNAH / FIDELIS
We are a class of women focused on "The Word" which is what logos means. We study amazing Bible studies from Dr. David Jeremiah, and we cover all sections of the Bible depending on the materials we select. As adult women hungry to understand God's word for our specific lives even though we are all past retirement age, we love the insights, warmth and fellowship our class provides us every week.

Choir members meet the first Thursday of each month to rehearse and then travel to several locations to sing musical selections and favorite hymns with the residents. These outings are followed by lunch at local favorite restaurants. Senior Adult Programs include a lunch or dinner which is held each month in the Fellowship Hall and features programs that are entertaining and informative and include a delicious meal. These are open to all senior adults in the community and provide a great outreach opportunity. Senior Adult Activities include local monthly outings to the Barter Theatre and Lunch Bunch trips to local restaurants. Day trips include exploring places of local interest or history. Overnight trips are planned for spiritual renewal or for sightseeing and fellowship. Longer trips such as motor coach tours and cruises are also included. Mission Projects are an important part of our senior adult ministry. Each spring, senior adults lead a four-day Senior Adult Bible School in the Kingsport Housing Authority Facilities. It includes Bible study, music, crafts, fellowship and a lunch or refreshments which are delivered to each location. In December, senior adults host a Christmas party for the homeless children and their families in the Kingsport City School System. HUGG Ministry (Healing Under God’s Grace) provides visitation, help with transportation needs and minor home repairs for homebound senior adult members of First Baptist Church. HUGG visitors go out at least once a month to take Bible study materials, provide contact and fellowship and assess needs which can be met through the program.
Classes are caring fellowships where members keep up with each other and are there for each other. Some gifted teachers with a wealth of Bible knowledge make Bible study exciting, challenging, and participatory.
