Let me begin 2018 by saying “thank you” to just a few of the people who make First Baptist such a blessed fellowship:
Thank you to Marcy Carrier, Alice Corker and all those who served with them in leading our Centennial Celebration in 2017. It was a tremendous time of looking back to those who have served God on this circle in the past 100 years. Great job by all of you!
Thank you for our Flower Committee for making our Sanctuary and our Atrium spectacular sights throughout the holidays. The trees, candles, lights and poinsettias made worship a wonderful visual event throughout December. Terrific work by all!
Thank you to all our musicians for leading us in numerous memorable moments throughout December. There are far too many to mention but Susan and Jessica led more than 100 volunteer musicians to help us hear the joy of the season. Wonderful work by all!
Thank you to Cookie Greer and Helen Kern for their superb work on a couple of first-ever events: a “Jingle Jam” which kicked off the children’s celebration of the season and a “Living Nativity” which was a city-wide event. Great work by these two ladies and their cast of very able volunteers.
Thank you to our entire fellowship for the spirit of enthusiasm and joy you brought to worship every time we gathered!
Thank you to all our faithful stewards for helping us end the year on a very fine note financially. Your generosity has helped us minister in ways that will continue to unfold in our new century.
Thank you for all those who are already praying about our New Century, New Vision effort. We are off to a good start. Pray for the Steering Committee which will meet for the first time on January 17. I’ll let you know more about them next week. In the meantime, I hope to see you on Sunday as we consider what our desires might be if God were to grant us any wish we desired.
