An Encouraging Word from Marvin

December 11, 2017 By First Baptist

This is one of my “thank you” notes to our congregation. I know you join me in each of these expressions of gratitude.

First, thanks to Susan and all our musicians for a memorable and wonderful day on Sunday. Each service was filled with joy and enthusiasm. Our guest composer, Heather Sorenson, was superb in every way. Thanks to all for a job very well-done.

Second, thanks to Jessi Nekuri, who has been serving as our Parish Nurse. Jessi has had to resign her position to attend to some very important opportunities with her dear family. Jessi brought with her a willing spirit and a love for people. We will miss her in this role but will continue to enjoy Jessi, her husband, Suresh, and their lovely family in our fellowship.

Third, thanks to our Children’s Minister Search Committee for their nomination and presentation of Helen Kern to serve as our new Children’s Minister. We will vote on Helen in each service this Sunday.

Fourth, thanks to Cookie Greer for all her work getting ready for this Sunday’s Living Nativity on Church Circle. I hope you will pray with me that this experience will help others better understand the power of the first Christmas.

Finally, thanks to our Grief Committee, which works so faithfully throughout the year to help those who are hurting. This Sunday they will host a reception following our Service of Remembrance which begins at 4 PM in the Sanctuary. I am thankful for all who serve in this important capacity.

I hope to see you more than once this Sunday!
