morning we talked together about listening for God in our lives. I want to ask you again to try something this week. Try to spend five minutes each day in silence, with no television, cd’s or anything else in the background. Just sit silently for five minutes and listen to see if God is trying to speak to you. The minutes will seem long at first but by the end of the week my guess is that you will be learning something about yourself and about God. If you keep it up I promise you will find a positive change. Just start your first five minutes by pondering God’s gifts to you on this day.
One of the things that has helped me in 2017 is another simple practice of gratitude. Each morning as I sit at my desk the first thing I do is jot down three reasons to be thankful. It could be as simple as a cool morning in the midst of summer or a good meal the evening before. If you do this you will begin the work day with a sense of gratitude that will drive your entire day. Try it today. It is a great habit to form.
This Sunday we will travel with Jesus to the most horrible of all the mountaintops we will visit. We will join him at Mount Calvary, the place of the skull. I hope you will be here as we consider “A prayer, a plea and a promise.” It will be a mountain you will not forget.
On this beautiful East Tennessee day I am reminded of just how blessed I am to serve God alongside you. Thanks to each of you for the opportunity,
