Next week our children have a second wonderful opportunity to spend valuable time at church. Our SEEDS camp is a terrific way for our children to enjoy music and learn scripture at the same time. Jessica and Susan have been working diligently to prepare for this opportunity. You will have the chance to benefit from their work as we experience a SEEDS concert together on Wednesday, July 19. It will be a great evening of fellowship and worship. I hope you will plan to be here to encourage our kids and see the great work they are doing.
Along with churches across the nation we are struggling with the impact of youth sports on our Sunday worship and Sunday School attendance. It is reflected in our attendance in worship and Sunday School. This is not a statement to condemn parents but to let you know we are taking seriously the demands our culture is placing on us. Cookie Greer and I talk almost daily about how to best communicate the truths of scripture when our children are not able to be here on Sunday. You will begin hearing about new curriculum ideas which are designed to combine the strengths of home and church to help our kids grow in awareness of the Bible. Our Facebook Live broadcasts allow you to worship with us even when you are away. I am grateful for those who are already taking advantage of this new opportunity. Thanks to Danny Silvey for his work in getting it off the ground.
In closing, I want to say “thanks” to everyone who invests time in our children. Our Sunday School teachers are phenomenal. Some are now teaching the kids of people they taught a generation ago! All of them prepare and pray so their service to God will help grow a new generation which loves the Lord and the church. Join me in praying for our teachers and our kids as we all work together to help kids know the truth that will “set them free.”
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we travel to the Mountain of Transfiguration to meet Jesus, Moses and Elijah. It will be a great climb. I hope to make the journey with you!
