We are entering our second full week dealing with the COVID-19 virus. I wanted to let you know about how we are doing some things and how those might change from week to week.
First, I want to thank you for viewing our service on Sunday. More than 1,200 “views” have been recorded on Facebook and YouTube. This doesn’t count those who watched through our website, even though we had some challenges with that. We will be investigating why we had issues and will advise you later this week about any changes for this coming Sunday.
Second, I want to thank those who made this Sunday’s online service possible. Last week I spoke with a friend who is as aware as anyone I know of how to reach people. He had watched numerous church services and advised us to do something different other than try to lead worship in an empty sanctuary. I agreed completely and we worked on something that we think communicated what we were trying to communicate. We will work on some additional varieties of experience this week. You can watch for special videos on Wednesday in the form of a brief Wednesday evening prayer time. Our staff members are also communicating quite well with age and interest groups.
Third, while we hope that we will be back in the Sanctuary for Easter, it appears unlikely at this time. We are looking for some way to have a very special Easter experience in spite of these challenging times. We will communicate those plans as they develop.
In the meantime, I want to thank you for your patience as we deal with the technological challenges that are facing so many churches right now. We will do our best to help you worship God every Sunday morning as long as this lasts.
Our offices will be open as long as the government will allow. If that changes, we will be easily reached by phone or email. It is our pleasure and privilege to minister alongside you. Maybe God bless you during these days,
