What a weekend we just had in our FBC family. We began Friday evening hosting hundreds in our community in a Christmas concert. Dozens of you volunteered for hours to make our guests welcome. Susan did a splendid job recruiting and coordinating the event. It was a reminder of just how blessed we are with you as our best “word of mouth” advertising.
Then on Sunday you exceeded expectations both in the morning and evening. We began with a great early service that included wonderful worship and baptism. Then our 11 AM service was filled with great worship led by our musicians from youngest to mature. All were terrific.
Sunday evening our Living Nativity was another Christmas gift from our church to our city. Cookie Greer recruited more than 170 volunteers to be a part of this special presentation of the birth of our Lord.
Others were deeply involved in the busy weekend. Brent Nowell and Danny Silvey and our custodial crew worked tirelessly on Friday getting ready for the concert. Brent Nowell, Helen Kern and Jesse Greer and many, many others helped set up “Bethlehem” Sunday afternoon. I wish I could name every one of you but this article would fill up several weeks worth of newsletters.
Christmas is indeed a busy season for our church as it should be! To Susan, Danny, Brent, Helen, Chris Ashbrook and Bradley Noe of our staff, to Cookie Greer and the Living Nativity team and to the more than 200 volunteers who worked to make the Friday concert, Sunday worship and the Living Nativity all special, please know of my deepest gratitude for what you mean to our church and our city.
This Sunday we will consider the gifts of Joseph and Mary to the newborn king. I look forward to seeing you then,
