Last week a friend wrote an article in his church’s newsletter that I believe is helpful to us all. Here are the words he quoted from a teacher of preachers named Haddon Robinson. I think you will find them helpful:
I will do more than belong – I will participate
I will do more than care – I will help
I will do more than believe – I will practice
I will do more than be fair – I will be kind
I will do more than forgive – I will forget
I will do more than dream – I will work
I will do more than teach – I will inspire
I will do more than earn – I will enrich
I will do more than give – I will serve
I will do more than live – I will grow
I will do more than suffer – I will triumph
Would you read that list slowly and carefully? See if one of these “wills” applies to your life today. My guess is you will find more than one. But for this week, why not focus on just one of them to see how each of us might grow in grace.
This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. We will continue our look at some of the great Proverbs of the Bible. It is also the first weekend when our new Contemporary Worship Leader, Brent Nowell, will be with us. I hope you will make Brent and Sara feel right at home with us.
Thanks to all of you who participated in our Visioning work on Sunday. It was tremendous! Our future is bright and challenging. Look again at that list of “wills” and pray about how God would have you grow this very week.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
