If you are a college basketball fan as I am, you may be exhausted by all these nail-biters, especially all the overtime games. I have watched with interest as the games ended. The emotions run the gamut from the excitement of going to the Final Four to the tears of those whose seasons (and for some, their careers) are concluded in a bitter defeat. If you haven’t seen the locker room video from the UT locker room after the overtime loss to Purdue, google it and watch a fine Christian man instruct young men on how to handle adversity. Coach Barnes’ has the look of a pastor as he embraced his seniors with heartfelt emotion. I know many other coaches did the same, but it was touching to watch him help his players through a tough moment.
Sometimes each of us runs into tough moments in life, many more challenging than losing an NCAA game. How do we handle the tough moments? We will think about that on Sunday as we consider “How do we pray when God seems absent?” I hope to see you then if we’re not all exhausted from the FInal Four on Saturday night!
