This Sunday we will honor another group of outstanding high school seniors. Every year I stand amazed when I hear the achievements of our young people. Some excel in academics, others in athletics, still others in music, drama or other performing arts and others excel in service to the community. Everyone of our graduates has a unique set of gifts with which to bless the world. As you watch them on Sunday listen closely to see where their “hearts” are.
I have been blessed to watch this group grow up from diapers to diplomas. They have been blessed with people who love them in Christian homes. Moms, dads, grandparents and others have provided environments that allowed them to accomplish more than they would have done by themselves.
Here at First Baptist dozens of you have invested your lives in these youngsters. Sunday School teachers, choir leaders, Mission Friends teachers, RA and GA leaders, Upward coaches and many more of you are a part of these young lives. I hope you will see the fruits of your labors as this outstanding group of seniors is honored in both services on Sunday.
We will make one more trip to the Waffle House in Athens, Tennessee and consider the gift of listening as we honor our seniors. I hope to see you then!
