Thanks to all those who joined us in our last worship experience of 2018 as we joined with some of our college students who led us in worship. Abby Edwards and the Praise Band were outstanding. Each student who participated in worship showed maturity and grace that we have come to expect from our college students. Madison Tincher led us in a wonderful invocation. Carlee Maguire, Christian, and Caleb Davis and Kellen Glasscock gave us a look into the challenges and blessings of being a college student today. It was a joy to see your faces as they shared with our congregation. We are blessed with an abundance of fine students. Thanks to all of them for coming home!
As we enter 2019 we have two staff openings. Our Search Committee for the Contemporary Worship Leader position is working diligently. Over the last several months the committee, led by Cliff Corker, reviewed approximately 50 resumes. Four candidates were interviewed multiple times. Two candidates came to Kingsport to visit with the committee and the fine musicians who lead us every Sunday. After those visits, the committee is re-opening our search. We are currently in the early stages of advertising and seeking resumes. If you know a candidate, please have them submit a resume and pertinent information to firstname.lastname@example.org for the committee’s review.
We are also seeking to fill the position that Donna Castle has filled for more than 20 years. Following Donna’s retirement this year our Administrative Committee appointed a team led by Dr. Mack Patton to make a recommendation concerning Donna’s replacement following an extensive study. That team is still working and will be making their report soon to the Administrative Committee, the deacons and the church in the proper times. Please be in prayer for both of these teams as they seek God’s will for our church.
I hope 2019 brings a year of growth for each of us and for our church. Thanks for making 2018 a great year of serving our Lord together!
