This week we will continue looking at “Questions People Asked Jesus.” The question for this week comes from one of Jesus’ closest followers. It is this: “What’s in it for us?”
Have you ever looked at how some people who profess no faith at all seem to have everything while people of faith suffer? The disciples could understand that question. We will think about “What’s in it for us” as a part of that larger discussion on Sunday.
This morning (Sunday) I concluded the sermon with a quote from my mentor, the late Fred Craddock. Here is the quote in its entirety:
“When I was in my late teens I wanted to be a preacher. When I was in my late 20’s I wanted to be a good preacher. Now that I am older, I want more than anything else to be a Christian.
To live simply,
To love generously,
To live truthfully,
To serve faithfully,
And to leave everything else to God.”
Those are challenging words, aren’t they? Why not try one of those characteristics this week? I’ll see you Sunday!
