Temptation. It surrounds us, doesn’t it? Tonight as I watched television I tried to be aware of all the ways I was being “tempted” to buy something that would “improve” my life. Whether it is a new car or a new computer or something to eat or drink or wear, the driving visual temptation can make me think I need something. Then I buy it and discover something else. No product is going to make me a better person or a completely happy person. There is even a term for it: “buyer’s remorse.”
The temptation to buy something is far from the only temptation we face but I think we face it more regularly today than any other generation has done. So this Sunday we will talk about “Overcoming Temptation.” Join us as we learn together from the Bible how we might be more successful in dealing with temptation.
This Sunday we conclude another season of Upward Basketball with our Upward Awards Ceremony. I hope you will join us at 4 PM to celebrate with the 100 children who have participated in Upward Basketball and Cheerleading this year. Thanks to Robyn Wilson for another tremendous job in leading Upward. Great job Robyn!
I look forward to sharing Upward and worship with you on Sunday!
