Archives for June 2018
WOW! That word captures my thoughts after a tremendous week of Vacation Bible School! Our campus was bubbling with energy last week as children and their leaders brought enthusiasm to our buildings all week. Sunday morning was a great example of the “joy of the Lord” that our children exhibited. There are so many people to thank for our VBS victories. Helen Kern helped me learn what it means to say “Oh, yeah!” as the kids brought those words to life every day. Susan Hoover and Jessica Hatfield led our SEEDS group to learn scripture with every note they sang. Elizabeth Beach and her crew did a great job preparing the set. I could go on and on but let me simply say “thanks be to God! for everyone of our great volunteers!
This Sunday we will return to the seashore as we travel to the Red Sea. If you have ever been “between a rock and a hard place,” this sermon is for you! Most of us have faced crisis moments, but few of us have faced moments that were as dramatic as the ones Moses and the children of Israel faced as they approached the Sea being chased by their former “owners.” I think you will find hope in our look to the scripture as we join Moses “by the sea.”
I want to ask for your prayers for our search team that is going to have the daunting task of finding someone to fill Jessica Hatfield’s shoes. Jessica has poured her life into our Contemporary service. We cannot thank her enough for all she means to that service, to our church and to our Lord. Be in prayer for Cliff Corker, who chairs the committee, along with Susan Lane, Mike Carrier, Cathy Combs and our deacon leaders, Rob Emery and Greg Cross, that we will find God’s person for this important task.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
