Sunday evening we once again experienced grace as we ordained Taylor Caldwell to the ministry. You were here in good numbers to bless, encourage and pray for Taylor. He is off to a good start in his ministry at First Baptist Church, Gatlinburg. I know you will continue to pray for Taylor in his ministry there.
Did you read the news that the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus is going out of business after 146 years? The circus was a highlight for me when I was fortunate enough to go. I was amazed at the elephants, clowns and acrobats. I was even more excited to take our sons to the circus when they were young. Now the circus as we knew it is going to be gone in May. What lessons are there for us as Christians? The times are changing. We have to be aware of changes in culture while holding true to the wisdom of the scripture. What opportunities lay before us? I know they are greater than any challenges. We are already seeing good numbers of visitors in our younger Sunday School departments. Keep an eye out for new folks who may be seeking a church home.
This Sunday we will consider this thought: “I Quit – Taking Life for Granted.” I hope you will be in worship as we look together to the words of James as we see what God’s truth has to say to us. Sunday afternoon we will begin a study of Christianity in America. We will meet in the Mountain View Room at 5 P. M. I hope to see you twice on Sunday!
